Lou Ford at G Gallery

The exhibition Lou Ford, curated by Roger Bywater, of Bywater Bros. editions, opens tonight at G Gallery. The show includes works by Scott Lyall, Rachel Harrison, Adam McEwen, Tania Kitchell, Jens Haaning, and Derek Sullivan, as well as works published Bywater Bros. These include projects by General Idea, Jonathan Monk, Mark Dion, Zin Taylor and Josephine Meckseper.

As far as I can gather, the premise of the show is that the fictional Lou Ford has selected objects from the above artists, and placed them alongside some favorite product designs (Sweet Tango Apples and Desert Essence Organics, for example). Here's the press release blurb:

"Lou Ford isn't much of a people person. He prefers things. The things he likes the most are things that mess with his mind. What really interest him are unique objects... specifically art objects. This exhibition bearing his name includes some of his favorite items. Most of the objects on display would be considered art, but he also added a few things that most people would call "trash". If Lou had learned anything about the relationship of art to things over the years it is that anything can become art."

G Gallery is located at 134 Ossington Street (Entrance on Foxley Pl, rear of building) and is open Friday to Sunday 12 - 5pm.
